OK — have been messing about with this thing for maybe six months now and I keep coming back, so figured I'd say something since a mate asked me a few days back. Am in the UK, mainly stick to footie and the horses, nothing mad, for context.

What got me on it was genuinely embarrassing — I could never figure out what an e/w payout actually came to once you get five places instead of three. I used to just wing it and get a shock. Now punch the numbers in before every slip, even a simple single bet.

Their single bet calculator is the part I'm on daily — you put in stake and odds and it shows returns straight away, fractions or decimals. There's also the fiddly ones — trebles maths, lucky 15 and lucky 63, patents and yankees, which is where most people I know lose track. If you fancy a poke about, it lives at betting odds converter and it's free with no account nonsense.

One thing that actually made a difference was the nerdier bits. The odds-to-probability calculator and it makes obvious the overround, and a kelly staking calculator — I stick to fractional kelly since full stakes are terrifying. The dutching one is handy too when I'm splitting a race.

It's not perfect mind. Its interface looks pretty plain — not much frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On my phone it's fine but the lucky 63 breakdown make you pinch and zoom. Also there's no proper app, just the site — fine by me but worth saying.

Right, that's me. Doesn't cost anything, not plastered in adverts, works. If you honestly does the maths on paper, give it a go — it's saved me plenty of dumb bets I'd have regretted.
